WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD YOU ASK YOUR LIMO SERVICE PROVIDER BEFORE BOOKING WITH THEM?
Booking a limo service can typically be a hassle with hidden fees, lack of preparation, faulty vehicles, insurance liability, unprofessional drivers, unclear charge dates for services rendered, etc. With this quick guide we'll teach you the top questions you should be asking your prospective limo service BEFORE you book!
1. Are your rates "all inclusive"?
God forbid that you come across a sketchy limousine service, but in the case that you do... this is a prime question to ask them. A lot of limo companies in the Detroit Metro area will tag on an additional service charge or fuel surcharge (depending on distance of transportation). Ask them to be honest with you because their "net" charge will obviously look attractive to you but they won't include a driver's tip, fuel surcharge, tolls, etc. Make sure you only pay for time from pick-up to drop-off because many limousine companies will charge from the time their vehicle leaves the garage to the time that it returns. Acknowledge that chauffeurs, like servers, live off of tips. Typically 15-20% is a good tip for good service. Don't be afraid to ask if your quoted price is also an accurate representation of what you will be asked to pay at the end of your trip!
2. What if the chauffeur isn't prompt and I'm late to my event?
If you were to miss your flight, occasion, event, or arrive late... make sure that the company offers a discount or full refund in the instance that service was poorly rendered.
3. You shouldn't be transported in an novelty vehicle unless you order one.
Ask them what year the limousine is that they will supply you with for the event. It's your right to expect a limo that has been produced within the last 5 model years. No one wants or deserves to expect a unique and elegant limousine only to be disappointed when a clunker rolls up.
4. Do they have a good insurance policy?
Make sure that the limo service you are prospecting has an insurance policy that complies with state law. Even the most veteran chauffeurs can experience an accident, make sure you are covered in the event of one happening.
5. In the rare event of a break down, could you supply a 2nd vehicle?
Although break downs and road side issues are few and far between, they do happen. Daily vehicle inspections can't pick up on every issue before it arises. Therefore, this is definitely a question worth asking since doubting that you or anyone else would like to be stranded on the side of the road... but if it were to happen and they can't replace the vehicle for you, at least your in a luxury limo!
6. Are you in compliance of state and federal regulations?
Like every other business in the United States and most foreign countries, laws and regulations must be followed. If you ask and they don't answer properly or flat out don't agree and comply to state and/or federal regulations... you should probably just give them (sketch balls) the cold shoulder, quickly.
7. When can I expect to be charged?
A respectful limo company will let you know when exactly you will be billed, whether it is a deposit at time of booking, the day of services provided, or the following day of service... you deserve to know! Don't be afraid to ask, you pay their bills so you need to be confident and ask away!
8. Service provider's cancellation policy?
Each limo service has differentiating cancellation policies. This is something you must know in case of an emergency cancellation need or to alter the service date. Find out what their "bottom line" dates are for cancelling or altering booked limousine dates/times. Since fee's vary from company to company, find out what they are and how you can avoid them altogether.
